The master of a seagoing vessel carrying oil and grease in tanks without packaging shall keep accurate records of the three previous cargoes carried in the tanks concerned and the effectiveness of the cleaning process carried out between those cargoes. If the cargo was transferred from ship to ship, the master of the receiving seagoing vessel must also keep accurate documentation that the transport of the oil or grease without packaging in the previous shipment complied with the conditions set out in Article 2 (Conditions for granting a derogation) and the effectiveness of the cleaning process applied between those cargoes on the previous vessel. The master of a seagoing vessel shall produce the above documentation at the request of the competent authority.
