The holder of a Group A or C firearms licence or a Group A, F, G, H, I or J firearms licence may apply for an exemption to possess weapons of categories A and A-I on a prescribed form, the model of which shall be laid down in implementing legislation.

Application for a permit to own, possess and carry a category B weapon. Acquisition, possession and carrying of a weapon of category B is possible only for the holder of the relevant firearms licence or firearms licence, on the basis of a permit from the Police of the Czech Republic.

A firearms licence is a public document that authorises a legal entity or natural person to acquire ownership and possession of weapons or ammunition, e.g. for the purpose of developing, manufacturing weapons or ammunition, repairing, modifying or degrading weapons or ammunition, buying, selling or transporting weapons or ammunition, lending weapons or storing weapons or ammunition, making cuts or degrading weapons or destroying or degrading ammunition, teaching or training in shooting, providing security for property and persons, carrying out sporting, cultural or leisure activities, or carrying out museum or collection activities.

The holder of a firearms licence A to J is obliged to issue an internal regulation and to send it and any amendment thereto to the relevant police department within 10 working days from the date of issue.
