The validity of the type-approval certificate shall be suspended if a change in the design of the measuring instrument, the material used or the technology of its manufacture has affected the characteristics relevant for its approval. The manufacturer of a measuring instrument of an approved type shall be obliged to notify the Czech Metrology Institute in advance of such changes.

The applicant for the extension of the validity of the verification of a specified measuring instrument shall be obliged to inform the persons affected by the measurement of the extension of the validity of the verification within 3 months from the date of issue of the protocol on the extension of the validity of the verification. (The verification of a specified measuring instrument confirms that the specified measuring instrument has the required metrological characteristics.)

Entities intending to repair or install specified measuring instruments are required to submit an application for registration to the Czech Metrology Institute. The details of the application for registration and the registration certificate shall be laid down by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Decree No 262/2000 Coll., which ensures the uniformity and accuracy of measuring instruments and measurements. The entity is obliged to notify the Czech Metrology Institute of the permanent termination of the registered activity.
