An organisation preparing a geological works project that includes machine drilling works deeper than 30 m or machine drilling works whose total length exceeds 100 m must send the project to the regional authority in whose administrative district the land disturbance works are to be carried out.

Geological works are subject to registration. The documents for registration shall be prepared by the organisation carrying out the geological work, which is obliged to submit these documents to the Czech Geological Survey, which shall register the geological work and issue a certificate to the organisation.

The organisation carrying out geological exploration shall send the Ministry of the Environment a notification of the discovery of an exclusive deposit with an indication of the quantity of its reserves, a notification of environmental geofactors at risk; by 31 January of the following year, an annual report on the scope and results of geological work carried out in the search for or exploration of an exclusive deposit. notification to the Ministry of Health of the discovery of a source of thermal or mineral water, gas, emanations and peloid. notification to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute in Prague of the discovery of a source of groundwater with a yield greater than 1,0 l.s-1 or a source of groundwater with a stressed surface (artesian water) with a yield greater than 0,5 l.s-1.

The Geological Works Act requires the contracting authority of geological works to submit the results of geological works to the Czech Geological Survey for permanent preservation within two months of the completion or approval of such works. The form of these results, the final report, is defined in Decree No 368/2004 Coll. on geological documentation.
